purebrowser: should use binary packages from source package src:firefox-esr (not src:purebrowser)
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

The binary package purebrowser was previously packaged from source package purebrowser.

To minimize delta towards Debian, and ease tracking differences, binary package purebrowser is now packaged from source package firefox-esr.

Please therefore let through to green the binary packages from (our fork of) source package firefox-esr.

As explained by Matthias on irc, package ban is source-specific: Banning Debian as source of firefox-esr continue to make sense and does not block upload of same-named firefox-esr ourselves.

Therefore closing this issue as invalid.

jonas.smedegaard lowered the priority of this task from Unbreak Now! to High.

apparently something blocks http://repo.pureos.net/pureos/pool/main/f/firefox-esr/ from entering green.

Raising priority, as PureOS currently ships with a very old and known broken release of (rebranded) Firefox.

jonas.smedegaard renamed this task from please stop block source package firefox-esr to purebrowser: should use binary packages from source package src:firefox-esr (not src:purebrowser).Jan 16 2018, 04:05

Apparently it breaks a bunch of stuff (garmin-plugin etc.), but that looks like a false-positive to me. The real issues are the -dbg packages being seemingly broken due to the Firefox package taking over binaries from the existing PureBrowser package.
I'll enforce that migration manually.
